Usher has spoken out about his intimate Super Bowl performance alongside Alicia Keys.

During a virtual interview premiered on “The Breakfast Club” on Monday, Feb. 19, Usher discussed headlining the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show.

In response to questions about Alicia Keys’ involvement and the ensuing social media debate, Usher clarified, “There was nothing inappropriate or perverse about it. It was simply about enjoying ourselves and celebrating a song Alicia and I created years ago, honoring its legacy. There was no disrespect intended.”

Previously, Alicia Keys’ husband, Swizz Beatz, addressed the controversy on Instagram, emphasizing the performance’s greatness and dismissing negativity: “Y’all talking about the wrong thing! Tonight’s performance was nothing but amazing with two giants! Congrats Usher and Alicia Keys, that song is a classic. We don’t do negative vibes on this side. We make history.”
