Police arrest suspected cultist in Ebonyi, recover firearms

Black Axe Confraternity is a cult group, and the Ebonyi State Police Command has detained a possible member of its membership.

This was verified in Abakaliki on Sunday by DSP Joshua Ukandu, the State Police Public Relations Officer.

“A suspected Black Axe Confraternity member was taken into custody by police officers on patrol on Saturday in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi.

From the suspect, police seized three handguns made in the area, six live rounds, one live 7.62mm, and three live 9mm rounds.

He continued, “The suspect admitted to being a member of the Black Axe Fraternity.”

He claims that the suspected cultist is also affiliated with the similarly prohibited Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, through the Eastern Security Network.

According to Ukandu, the suspect will be charged after the investigation is finished.
