Obi Asika, a seasoned talent manager and music executive, contends that the current generation of Nigerian artists owes its existence to the legacy of veteran singers.

Asika asserts that Wizkid is the successor of D’Banj, while Burna Boy follows in the footsteps of Daddy Showkey.

He expressed these views during a recent episode of the Hip TV program, Trending.

Asika stated, “2Face and Daddy Showkey have rags-to-riches narratives; they are legends. You cannot have a Burna Boy without a Daddy Showkey. Similarly, you cannot have a Wizkid without D’Banj. Davido’s career also draws influence from icons like P-Square.”
