Oderhwo Joseph Efe, popularly known as Carter Efe, is a popular skit creator and artist. He recently revealed that Asake, a Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer, was ejected from the stage during his performance at London’s O2 Arena last year.

In the most recent episode of the Spill With Phyna Podcast, the skit creator-turned-singer revealed this while bemoaning the unfair treatment meted out to Nigerian creatives by Western music executives and show promoters.

“The 02 Arena’s management turned out the lights during Asake’s performance there last year,” he stated. We still return to Westerners despite the way they treat us. They ejected Asake from the platform. They switched off the lights. I’m not telling lies.

The host, Phyna, recommended that Nigerian musicians band together and plan concerts for the nation’s fans. However, Carter Efe shot her idea down, citing Nigeria’s inadequate infrastructure to handle such large-scale gatherings.
