Bishop Feyi Daniels sentenced to life imprisonment for raping assistant

Oluwafeyiropo Daniels, a Lagos bishop, was found guilty of raping his assistant, a 23-year-old, in an Ikeja Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Court and given a life sentence. Daniels’ name has been withheld.

Daniels, the Bishop of I Reign Christian Ministry in Lagos, was also given a three-year prison sentence by Judge Rahman Oshodi for molesting a 19-year-old church member (count three of the four-count charge).

The cleric was ordered by the judge to live out the remainder of his days at the Kirikiri detention center in Lagos.

According to Justice Oshodi, the prosecution proved the elements of the two offenses.

He claims that Daniels is a dishonest person who doesn’t care about the truth.

However, the judge dismissed the second count of the charge, which involved the rape of another church member (name withheld), and found him not guilty.

According to Oshodi, there was a component of the church member’s consent.

In addition, the judge dismissed the fourth count of the complaint, which involved an alleged attempt to rape a church member, and found Daniels not guilty.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Daniels was charged with four amended counts that included attempted rape, sexual assault, and rape.

Section 260 (2) of Lagos State’s 2015 Criminal Laws prohibits rape.
