Arrested in Nasarawa is a phony soldier

The Nasarawa State Command has arrested a fake soldier, Muhammed Haladu, in the Awe Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement released by the command’s spokeswoman, DSP Ramhan Nansel, on Thursday, January 11, 2024, the suspect was taken into custody by two soldiers wearing full military gear and turned over to law enforcement.

According to the statement, “one Muhammad Haladu ‘M’ of behind Ozas Hotel, Karu Abuja was arrested on full military camouflage at Awe LGA on June 1, 2024, at approximately 17: 39 hours by two soldiers who came home on pass and handed him over to the Police at Awe Division.”

Investigation disproved the suspect’s claim that he was a soldier with Borno State’s 231 Battalion Biu. The criminal used the guise of obtaining employment in the Nigerian Army to defraud gullible members of the public.

“The preliminary investigation showed that the suspect went to the military barracks to buy the uniform he’s using for his nefarious activities after attempting to join the military but failing.”

While praising the officers, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, the Commissioner of Police, gave them a directive to keep up the pressure on criminals in the state.
