Because the woman who accused Prince Andrew of wrongdoing missed the deadline to file her claim, Prince Andrew has escaped another trial for sex assault.

According to the Mirror, Johanna Sjoberg, who has accused paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein and the Duke of York of sexually abusing her, had until a month ago to file a case against the royal.

It was feared that the eldest brother of the King might be subject to a similar lawsuit brought by Virginia Roberts Guiffre, one of Epstein’s victims, which resulted in an out-of-court settlement reportedly worth £12 million.

According to people close to the Duke, the prince is “mightily relieved” that he won’t be facing a new lawsuit because Ms. Sjoberg neglected to file a motion in time in the United States. The prince wants to restore his reputation.

That may not, however, be the last of the Duke of York’s troubles regarding his connections to Epstein, who committed suicide in jail in 2019.

Documents concerning Ms. Sjoberg and other female accusers of Epstein’s mistreatment are scheduled to be released, and 170 individuals connected to the disgraced financier will be named in court.

Ms. Sjoberg has previously stated that in 2001, while at the multimillionaire paedophile Epstein’s Manhattan home, the King’s brother touched her breast.

She claimed this occurred during an incident in which Virginia Roberts’ breast was touched by a latex Spitting Image puppet of the Duke of York, which was a gift from Epstein’s then-lover Ghislaine Maxwell.

After that, Ms. Roberts—who now goes by her married name Giuffre—said she and Andrew shared a bed at Epstein’s house.
