Taraba State’s dry season farmers are worried about growing levels of insecurity in different regions of the state.

The farmers demanded prompt action from the state government and security forces because they believe that the insecurity will have a negative effect on them.

A few of them told DAILY POST that it was concerning how frequently people were being killed and kidnapped in different parts of the state.

They determined that the most affected council areas were Yorro, Bali, Lau, Ardo-Kola, and Karim-Lamido.

Yahaya Mafindi, a farmer, and Abdullahi Bello, his counterpart, issued a warning that banditry could impede essential farming operations throughout Taraba.

Saidu Dauda, a farmer in Lau Council Area’s Donada village, gave a concerning account of the situation, saying that just last week, two villagers were killed and eight others were kidnapped in Kunini village.

Other Taraba residents have, in the meantime, urged the government to address the security issues plaguing the entire state.

Retired police Sergeant Adamu Saleh told DAILY POST, “Honestly, all I am in dire need of is for the government to secure our lives and property from armed bandits and kidnappers in 2024.”

Ndafru Godwin, for his part, demanded a sharp drop in the cost of goods and services as he bemoaned the high cost of living in the state and throughout the nation.
