Music Executive, Obi Asika, Credits Eedris Abdulkareem for Pioneering Path for Nigerian Artists, Says 50 Cent
In a recent episode of the Hip TV program “Trending,” veteran talent manager and music executive Obi Asika asserted that controversial singer Eedris Abdulkareem bravely stood up for other Nigerian artists by challenging the poor treatment they received during American rapper 50 Cent’s concert in Nigeria in 2004.
Asika explained that Nigerian brands at the time did not respect local artists and made them feel undervalued, leading to complaints about artists’ fees.
As one of the country’s biggest artists, Abdulkareem demanded equal treatment as 50 Cent during the concert, but he faced resistance and was ultimately sidelined, leading to the deterioration of his career.
Asika commended Abdulkareem for taking a stand and sacrificing his own career to pave the way for future artists, despite being unfairly labeled as a troublemaker.
