“Daddy Freeze: Tyla Deserved the Best African Music Grammy

Diligent According to Daddy Freeze, a well-known figure in Nigerian media, South African singer Tyla was rightfully victorious over Nigerian performers at the 66th Grammy Awards.

According to news, Tyla, the only non-Nigerian nominee in the inaugural Best African Music Performance category, won the Grammy on Sunday, beating out the Nigerian quintet of Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Davido, Asake, and Olamide.

A few incensed Nigerian music enthusiasts questioned Tyla’s “Water” over popular songs by their countrymen, charging the Recording Academy with collusion.

Daddy Freeze, however, responded during a recent Instagram live event with supporters, insisting that Tyla’s Grammy victory was richly earned.

“Tyla’s Grammy victory over Nigerian artists was not ojoro [scam],” he declared. I fail to notice the ojoro. I’m having trouble seeing the ojoro.

“‘Water’ was, in my opinion, a slightly bigger song globally [than Nigerian songs nominated].” It’s not like those songs weren’t well-known. They were enormous. Simply put, “Water” has more life. It’s very popular on Tiktok.
